A Sick Day for Amos McGee

If there was ever a better endorsement of the golden rule than A Sick Day for Amos McGee, I haven’t found it.  This sweet story follows the titular zookeeper as he attentively tends to each of his animal friends at the city zoo.  When he falls ill and cannot come to work, the animals board the city bus (zoo animals can be so silly that way) to visit him at home and spend a day returning his kindnesses.  I actually picked up our copy at the world’s best bookstore (no arguing, my mind is made up on this one), so it holds an extra special place in my heart.
